San Diego, CA, USA – August 3 , 2017: University of Alberta owns an RFxpert RFX2 and EMSCAN collaborates with them on various projects. Using the RFxpert RFX2 as a platform to collect near-field measurements the research group from University of Alberta developed new algorithms to more accurately transform the data to far field and simultaneously improve the calculation time. At the IEEE APS 2017, University of Alberta presented two papers:

  • Linear-Linear Basis Functions for Source Reconstruction Using Magnetic-Field Integral Equations in Very-Near-Field Measurements: Linear-Linear (LL) basis functions are used to solve magnetic-field integral equation (MFIE) in the planar very-near-field measurement of the antennas and reconstruct the equivalent currents. • Ground de-embedded Source Reconstruction Using a Planar Array of H-Field Probes: This paper presents an introduction to a new source reconstruction method SRM which tries to deal with a special measurement scenario involving a finite ground plane. Primary goal in this work is to improve the accuracy of near-field to far-field transformation via the reconstruction method. Click here to read this paper.

About EMSCAN
EMSCAN is the world leading developer of real-time test solutions for antenna and PCB designers and verification engineers, without the need for a chamber since 1989, using patented very-near magnetic field measurement technologies and applications.
The EMxpert, a family of compact EMC and EMI diagnostic tools, and the RFxpert, a family of antenna measurement tools, enable engineers to quickly optimize their designs. EMSCAN solutions dramatically increase designer productivity and substantially reduce time-to-market and project development costs. www.emscan.com
