Overview:
The current methods for over-the-air testing in a production environment are based on custom designed coupling plates or traditional antennas as couplers. These methods do not provide a repeatable path loss and limit the accuracy of any over-the-air testing. This inaccuracy requires that test limits be adjusted and will cause an increase in production costs and possibly allow poorly performing products into the marketplace. In addition to the inaccuracy, these methods require extensive customization and substantial setup time in the production line.

This webinar introduces a new method to do over-the-air testing that provides path loss uncertainty of better than 0.5dB and can be instantly reconfigured to support new products in the production line. This method is based on the electronically switched array of very-near-field probes in the EMSCAN RFxpert. The RFxpert is a tool that has been successfully used in the R&D setting for wireless products for almost 10 years.

The webinar will include an explanation of how this new method achieves the flexibility and repeatability claims and will present measurement results from actual over-the-air testing of a wireless product.
